While it is true that the wealthy ruling class of Israel makes profits from the labor of the Israeli working class, that is not enough reason for the rulers in the US to support the Zionists. Far more likely is the need for a reliable ally to create chaos and war (and thus control) in the Middle East where much of the world’s energy is located. If it were only for $’s, the US would have similar arrangements with much larger countries producing much more value.

I agree that the reason the U.S. supports Israel is not "only" or even mainly "for the money" made off of Israeli labor. It is to prevent solidarity from developing among the have-nots of the world, by creating an enormously divisive non-class conflict, one that produces the Palestinian (Arab/Muslim) bogeyman "terrorist" enemy that provides the seeming credibility required for the War on Terror to maintain sufficient U.S. public support to enable the U.S. rulers to invade countries at will in the name of fighting terrorism. The "Israel/Palestine" conflict also enables anti-working-class rulers in the Middle East to divert what would otherwise be anger by their own working class against them to, instead, anger at Israel. These anti-working-class rulers also benefit from Israel being extremely powerful militarily because this gives them the perfect excuse not to actually attack Israel except rhetorically, as has been their practice for decades. (This may change with respect to Iran since Netanyahu is doing all he can to provoke an Iranian military attack on Israel. We shall see.)
