I loved this perspective! I watched all those games as a fan, having been a Celtics fan since the era of Bob Cousy and Bill Russell in the fifties! Cousy is still with us at age 95, but we recently lost the two Bills, Russell and Walton.

Yes, it is true that sports offers relief from capitalism without actually ending capitalism. One could call it a "safety valve" for capitalism. As you apparently realize, the point of my article was about sports fans and what they value, not about capitalism and its opposite values.
