Michigan's Progressive Abdul El-Sayed Won the Democratic Primary, But He Doesn't Refute the Billionaires' Key Propaganda Themes

and as a result he is no threat to the billionaire class's power

Newbreak.com reports on an interview of the progressive rising star, Michigan’s Democratic Party Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed. The big name progressives, such as Michael Moore and NYC Mayor Mamdani, are super-excited about Abdul El-Sayed.

I am not. Here’s why.

Regarding Israel, in the linked-above interview Abdul El-Sayed supports the horrible, immoral (read why here) “Two-State solution” with these (somewhat roundabout) words:

“But I also understand that it’s impossible for us to say that we want a two-state solution while aiding, arming and abetting the very people who have been trying to foreclose on the possibility of a Palestinian state.”

The “Two-State solution” calls for the Palestinian refugees to forfeit forever their Right of Return to the 70% of Palestine from which the Zionists violently expelled them; it thus calls for making the ethnic cleansing permanent.

Furthermore, Abdul El-Sayed, when directly asked, cannot bring himself to say that he supports ending all U.S. support for Israel, despite the fact that any such support ends up helping the Israeli government continue its genocidal Zionist ethnic cleansing project. He apparently supports providing Israel some military aid, just not “unconditionally.” (I wonder if dead children in Gaza would have felt better knowing that the bomb that killed them, or American money given to strengthen the genocidal Israeli government, was only provided to Israel conditionally.) Here are the relevant words in the interview:

Pressed one final time on whether he would end all U.S. military support for Israel, El-Sayed reiterated that his position was rooted in applying the same standard to all countries. “I believe that we cannot continue to do unconditional foreign military aid,” he said, arguing that U.S. policy should follow the Leahy Laws by withholding weapons from countries accused of human rights abuses. He said he would apply that principle equally to Israel, Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

Here’s what is going on.

If Abdul El-Sayed told the truth about Israel, he not only would oppose the Two-State solution and oppose ANY U.S. aid to Israel and oppose the very existence of an Israeli state based, as it notoriously is, on the (absurdly false¹ ) claim that Israel Is a ‘Nation-State Of The Jewish People And Them Alone,’ but—and this is KEY—he would in doing so GAIN, not lose, the support of ordinary Michigan Jews. Instead of allowing the billionaires to divide the have-nots into pro-Palestine versus pro-Israel camps, he would create unity of the have-nots against the billionaire class. How so?

Here’s how so.

The truth about Israel is that Israeli violence against Palestinians has never been for the purpose of making Israeli Jews safe, not at all! The truth is that Israel is in fact a dictatorship of Jewish billionaires who severely economically oppress the Israeli Jewish working class to get rich off of them. The billionaires only get away with this by keeping ordinary Israeli Jews extremely frightened of Palestinians and persuading Israeli Jews to view the Israeli ruling class as their protector against the Palestinians. In order to make the Palestinians be a maximally frightening bogeyman enemy (in other words be extremely angry at Israel), the Israeli government for decades has been treating them horribly—violent ethnic cleansing, apartheid, brutal Occupation—all in the name of “the Jews.” And to make doubly sure that Israelis are maximally frightened of Palestinians, the Israeli government for decades has been funding Hamas and working to keep it in power (even after October 7, 2023.) The truth is that the entire Zionist project has been and is largely for the purpose of enabling Jewish billionaires to control and severely economically oppress and get rich off of working class Israel Jews, including Holocaust survivors. It has never been abou making Israeli Jews safe. When ordinary American Jews (not billionaire Jews!) learn this truth they become anti-Zionists who don’t support the Israeli government at all, and who do support ending the ethnic cleansing and genocide and ending all the discrimination against Palestinians.

Why doesn’t Abdul El-Sayed tell the voters the truth about Israel?

Why doesn’t Abdul El-Sayed say that the Israeli Jewish billionaire class is the enemy of all good people including good Jewish people, and that it should not be allowed to remain in power as the Two-State solution would wrongly and obviously do?

Why doesn’t Abdul El-Sayed, whom other progressives praise as being “on the side of the working class,” actually BE on the side of the working class? Why doesn’t he identify the billionaire class—Jewish and non-Jewish billionaires, foreign and domestic—as the enemy that must be removed from power? This is exactly what the vast majority of people would LOVE (as I prove here.) Why doesn’t he refute the divide-and-rule lie that Israeli violence against Palestinians is for the purpose of making Israeli Jews safe?

Why doesn’t he do this?

You tell me.

We need an egalitarian revolutionary movement that tells the TRUTH about things, not a progressive movement that hides the truth in order to avoid building an egalitarian revolutionary movement.
