Decentralisation of power to prevent abuse is a sound step but if local councils are a replacement then they must be subject to strict accountability with severe penalties for misfeasance. Even more important is the inalienable preservation of individual freedoms from authoratative abuse. No point replacing one crowd of tyrants with another.
Good essay and glad to see this work of Arendt. Separation of powers indeed! But that 1789 US invention has resulted in it being done now in FORM but lacking in CONTENT since corporate interests control all 3 branches which were intended to be checks on each other.
Some other sources about particular events but the one that most comparable in scope would be Murray Bookchin's The Third Revolution Volumes 1, 2 and 3 (I only have vol. 1 & 3). I have Voline's great book about the Soviet revolution, which is also great. Then there are the books about the Spanish Revolution that I list in the bibliography at the end of my article about it at https://www.pdrboston.org/egalitarianism-in-spain-1936-9 .

Regarding abuse of power, I have written this: https://www.pdrboston.org/how-can-abuse-of-power-be-prevented .
Regarding individual freedom, I have written this: https://www.pdrboston.org/egalitarian-bill-of-rights .

Do you have any other sources besides Arendt for this topic?
