It all played out at the library this Thursday...
I was saying to the librarian who received a fine for driving 5mph over the limit. The fine itself was $50 , but there was also a $200 added on administration fee which turned the unfortunate affair into a hardship. I commented how unfair that was and further started that if a 'Rich' man was involved in that same fine , to be fair, his fine should be prorated to $2000 dollars as $250 would be only pocket change to him.
Strangely, she was taken aback by this comment and reiterated by saying " Why should He?" She went on to suggest if I don't think he deserves to safeguard his hard earned money more than I do... Than why don't I take in these immigrants which are presently spilling over our borders....into my own home to balance the scale of inequality in this country? Would you? World you take strangers into your own home, she asked?
Reluctantly, I said No.... But it felt wrong!
I told her , I didn't feel right about my answer and I would have to think about it and get back to her.
Honestly , she caught me off guard... Her station in life is definitely a 'have-not.'.. But she is definitely a 'Have' sympathizer?
It took me 72 hours to sort this out in my mind!
