Very informative. Thank you. I so wish more people took the time to learn the fact rather then respond emotionally (and tribalistically) to a one liner headline on social media
Creating an environment based on fear of being taken away and possibly imprisoned or worse leaves unanswered the reason for behavior requiring the environment. Survival and protection from harm is a natural inclination. Denial of basic means produces behavior to address those needs. The ole adage “ you get what you sow”. Removing the “weeds” from the garden is a temporary solution. Without nourishing the soil the environment simply produces more “weeds” later in an endless cycle for more incarceration facilities. Where are the facts, figures and actions showing nourishment for improving El Salvador’s survival environment? Tyrannies only last so long before the human spirit rebels. The local communities not relying on the “federal government” to meet their needs speaks volumes about the centuries old distrust of authoritarian centralization. Good for them. “I’m from the government and here to help?”
Depressing reading John. We need a miracle to stop the accelerating universal moral decline.
