Here's How to Stop Being Like a Fish that Doesn't See the Water It Swims In, and Start Seeing HOW the Rich--Day In and Day Out, In Plain Sight Everywhere!-- Prevent Us from Removing Them from Power
Be like Roddy Piper in "They Live!"
In 1988 the film “They Live” came out with a most interesting plot. A working class guy finds a pair of glasses on the street, and when he looks at things with them on he sees the truth instead of the lies everybody else sees. Here’s a clip:
I suggest we look at things through the “glasses” that I call the “have-nots’ view” glasses. When one looks through the “have-nots’ view” glasses one sees the truth—the truth that virtually all of the governments of the world and all of the major institutions (economic, cultural, academic, health, entertainment, etc.) are anti-working-class; they do anti-working-class things (even when pretending to be on the side of “the people”) and they promote anti-working-class lies by censoring key truths as well as by asserting false claims.
The fish that can’t see the water it swims in
As they say about the fish that cannot see the water it swims in, we typically do not notice how thoroughly anti-working class all the institutions are that we live amidst because their anti-working-class character is so pervasive.
In order to really see how pervasive is the anti-working-class character of the organizations and individuals that dominate our world, it is necessary to do this. Either find a pair of “have-nots’ view” glasses on the street or, failing that, alas, make a pair of your own, so to speak. Make a pair of your own by thinking very hard about what is the pro-working-class view and THEN see things clearly for the first time. See just how totally the pro-working-class view is censored or denied everywhere by the people and organizations with the kind of Big $ it takes to control what we, the have-nots, see and hear day in and day out.
Here are some examples how to do this.
Consider the pro-working-class view of the so-called “Israel/Palestine” conflict. The truth about that conflict is that the billionaire rulers of Israel for decades have been super-oppressing Palestinians (ethnic cleansing and lately genocide) in the name of “the Jewish people” in order to make the Palestinians be so angry at Israel that they can be easily portrayed by those billionaires as a bogeyman enemy—an existential threat—to working class Israeli Jews, an enemy from which the billionaires pretend to protect ordinary Israeli Jews and thereby control and economically oppress and get rich off of the Israeli working class. This is not complicated! I prove it with mainstream (often Israeli) sources in my article here.
Now take a look at the world with your “have-nots’ view” glasses on. What do you see? Do you see a single government or organization (even an anti-Zionism organization) or magazine or newspaper with a substantial readership expressing this key pro-working class truth—a truth that, if widely known, would unite virtually ALL have-nots, including initially pro-Israel Jewish ones—against the Zionist project and it Israeli government’s oppression of Palestinians? No, you do not see even one! What you see is all of these organizations using censorship and lies to attack the working class—both working class Palestinians AND working class Jews.
Consider the anti-working-class idea of a “two-state solution” to the “Israel/Palestine” conflict. In truth this solution is totally anti-working-class because it entails making the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians permanent, as I explain in my article here; advocating the “two-state solution” is a way for governments to seem (to those not wearing the correct glasses) to be on the side of the angels while actually maintaining the divide-and-rule Zionist project.
Now take a look at the world with your “have-nots’ view” glasses on. Do you see even a single government opposing the “two-state solution”? Only one. Even Netanyahu supports it after, he says, Hamas is defeated (as you can read about here in the paragraph near the end that begins “Second, as he explains in this May 14, 2024 video interview”) Almost all governments explicitly support the two-state solution. The only exception I am aware of is the Iranian government (which I write about specifically here), which nonetheless, just like all the other governments, refuses to tell the truth about the anti-working-class, including anti-JEWISH-working class, purpose of Zionism.
Consider the pro-working-class truth that, among ordinary people, AN INJURY TO ONE IS AN INJURY TO ALL. As I explain in detail here, racial discrimination against blacks has, from the very beginning of chattel slavery to the present day, been for the purpose of destroying the solidarity of ALL races of have-nots in order to enable the rich upper class to dominate and oppress ALL races of have-nots. Racial discrimination against blacks was never, and is not today, at all for the purpose of making life better (so-called “white privilege”) for ordinary white people; on the contrary! (Read here about why I say “on the contrary” if you don’t already know.)
Now take a look at the world with your “have-nots’ view” glasses on. What do you see? Do you see ANY person or organization or media with a substantial audience expressing this KEY truth that unites ALL the have-nots against the haves who oppress them. No! Not a single one! You likely did not notice this fact until you put on your “glasses.”
Consider all the divisive ‘social issues” such as illegal immigration and abortion and transgender “rights” and so forth. Without wearing your “have-nots’ view” glasses these social issues make the world seem one in which solidarity of all the have-nots against the haves is impossible because half the have-nots (which half depends on which side one has taken on these social issues) are far too evil or stupid or dangerous to even think about having solidarity with them.
Now take a look at the world with your “have-nots’ view” glasses on. What do you see? If you can’t find those glasses, then read this to see the truth about these social issues. You will see that in every single case the ruling class has used censorship of key truths and lies in order to hide the fact that the great majority of people (the have-nots) actually share the same positive values and would agree on proposals about all the social issues that were based on these values—values of the have-nots and not of the haves.
Consider the facts that a) we have extreme class inequality—some rich and some poor—and hence b) we live in a dictatorship of the rich that treats the have-nots like dirt, and that c) the vast majority of people want to remove the rich from power to have real, not fake, democracy with no rich and no poor.
Now take a look at the world with your “have-nots’ view” glasses on. What do you see? You see that in spite of these three facts—not a single politician or newspaper or magazine or radio station or any university or any organization at all is revealing all of these facts combined. Why not? Because if they did it would give the have-nots hope and confidence to make an egalitarian revolution.
The haves—the rulers of the world—work very hard (as one can see when one wears the right kind of glasses!) to make the have-nots feel hopeless about the possibility of removing the rich from power to have real, not fake democracy with no rich and no poor. But in fact, this is very possible. It is what most people want!
Clever article, John! I watched that movie some years back and marveled that such a film could even be produced at all. Perhaps it was because there were only one pair of glasses, one individual who got to see the truth. I can’t remember the whole plot and the ending, but I’m pretty sure it didn’t spread to the rest of the population and that it didn’t work out so well for him, which is what I would imagine the Haves’ micro-managers wanted the movie’s message to actually be.
When perception and thinking is controlled, putting on a pair of glasses will not fix myopia. Divergent thinking trumps divergent thinking…outliers are easily marginalized or killed off.
